Wellington Cricket Club

Wellington Cricket Club was initially played on the former Markplein Center. It was also the gathering place and sports fields for virtually any other sport practiced during the 1890s. The cricket club was founded in 1897, with the very uneven Market Square as a base. Cricket and rugby were quickly the public’s favorite entertainment sport and in the following years received preferential treatment for better facilities from the municipality and Council. Read more…
